Apparel packaging — clear OPP, self-seal and zip bags

Garments must be visible, stay folded and clean. Choosing clear OPP bags, self-seal bags and zip bags, in custom sizes with your brand printed in our own hall.

By Milad Yadollahi, Production line specialist

Apparel is usually packed in clear OPP bags: transparent and glossy so the garment shows, and enough protection against dust and surface moisture. The self-seal version closes without a sealing machine and suits boutiques and warehouses; zip bags suit packs the customer opens repeatedly.

Adhesive-flap OPP bag used for packaging folded apparel

A garment asks three things of its bag: it must be visible, because the buyer chooses fabric and colour by eye; it must stay protected from warehouse dust and moisture; and the bag must look clean and neat, because it is part of the brand's image. Clear OPP bags were made for exactly those three.

Why does self-seal dominate apparel?

A self-seal bag carries an adhesive strip on the flap: peel the liner, press the flap down. No sealing machine, no heat. For a boutique packing at the counter, a warehouse preparing online orders, or any variable run size, this is the fastest and tidiest option — and the finished pack comes out flat and crease-free.

Sizing: measure the garment folded

The most common mistake is taking dimensions from the garment laid flat. Size the bag to the garment folded, the way it actually goes in, plus a little clearance so it does not stretch and split. Fold one piece from every size you sell and measure it — that alone prevents the wrong order.

Printing on apparel bags

In apparel the pack is part of the brand experience, especially in online retail where the customer opens it. We print up to 8 colours on the same film we produce. One note: on a clear bag, a clean single-colour design usually looks more premium than a busy one — the garment is what should be seen, not the artwork.

Send the folded garment dimensions, run size and bag type and we will propose size, material and price.

Clear OPP or polyethylene for garment bags?

Clear OPP. It is transparent and glossy so the garment shows through; polyethylene is hazier and less attractive for presenting apparel.

What is a self-seal bag?

A bag with an adhesive strip on the flap that closes without a sealing machine and without heat. The fastest option for boutiques, warehouses and online order fulfilment.

How do I decide the bag size?

Fold the garment the way it actually goes into the bag, measure that, then add a little clearance. Measuring the garment laid flat is the most common cause of a wrong order.
